Cairngorms

Looking out from the Ptarmigan Restaurant towards Glenmore, Loch Morlich and Aviemore beyond. In the heart of the Cairngorm National Park lie the Cairngorms, Scotland's best know ski and snowboard area. The nearby town of Aviemore is the closest Scotland has to an Alpine village, and it is very tourist focused...

The Cairngorms has 17 lifts including the newly constructed funicular railway and 2 chairlifts. There is loads of beginners terrain and some more challenging runs higher up. In common with other Scottish resorts the Cairngorm Mountain is exposed to winds which, together with a lack of trees, prevents big powder fun and tree dodging adventures.

Recent development has seen the standard of Mountain hospitality (food, drink, warmth) rise immeasurably. Unpredictable snow and snow deprived Scots usually means that if there is snow at the weekends then this place can get very busy.
