I'm all ears - and a big nose, he he.

Right this will come as a complete suprise to most of you but, I am unfit.

I know I'm unfit and after talking to Malcom in urbanology am really worried about my level of unfitness in relation to going snowbording in Cannada next year. What do you think would be better to get me in better shape for snowbaord, running, swimming, surfin or cycling??

I know I'm not going to be the only one out there with this problem, it's just I love just chillin with people rather than getting hot and sweaty in a gym. Andy wants me to mountin bike but he goes too fast, surfin would be good if the water was hotter, so think it could be running but am open to sugestions (within reason).

If it is running does anyone have a good wed site address for setting out how and when to run, you know the type of thing, jog for half an hour for the first two weeks three times a week then step it up. Any ideas?

running is rubbish

hey susan. dont run its rubbish . i tend to find that my thighs are where the snowboarding hurts most. riding a bike will strengthen those pins for canada.

getting fit for snowboarding

now, this will surely surprise you also but i too am somewhat unfit. i found this article before which might be interesting - Strength and Conditioning for Snowboarding. I'm trying to get fit too. This has so far comprised of 1) stopping smoking exactly 8 months ago today and 2) biking a little.

Recently however I've joined the 8 Acres Leisure Club and am doing 30 minutes of CV exercise at least 3 times a week for general fitness. I know I should be doing more, but I don't want to end up hating it so I'm taking it a bit easy, doing 40 minutes when I feel like it and only 20 when I don't. I've mostly been using the X-Trainer but also the recumbent bike, rowing machine and treadmill. I haven't been proper biking (i.e. outdoors) for a while though, I should do more of that. Though I confidently expect that it is the uphill which is most beneficial healthwise, and the least fun...

As for surfing or running.. I don't know. Can't help. Not much of a runner or a surfer. I should probably look soon into which muscle groups specifically to work on for snowboarding. If you have any bright ideas let me know eh?

And the good thing about getting hot and sweaty in a gym rather than oot and aboot is that you can have a shower straight away and have a jacuzzi too..
