A 4.5 mile walk from the car park at Blairmore, Sandwood Bay offers a mile long beach with several breaks; reef and beach. The beach is backed by dunes and a loch. If Oldshoremore has swell then Sandwood Bay will likely have more - check Oldshoremore before embarking on the 4.5 mile hike in.
There is a car park at Blairmore (close to Oldshoremore and only a few miles from Kinlochbervie) from where the walk to the beach starts and which has toilet facilities. Sandwood Bay is owned by the John Muir Trust and there is a box for donations in the car park which will be used to preserve and maintain this beautiful small part of Scotland.
There are myriad stories of the beach being haunted with many campers having their own paranormal experiences! The only problem we experienced was midges - it might be worth setting up camp so that you will be a little exposed to a breeze if there is one.
