Thurso East is a world class reef break which picks up large north atlantic swells. Good, and often big, rights - Thurso East is renowned for its barrel which heads in from the right towards the river mouth and breaking over slabs of Caithness sandstone. It works in all tides though is best on an incoming to mid tide. Faces North West.

Also known as Castle Reef, because the break is to be found opposite the castle.
