Wetsuits in New Zealand

Can anyone help me?
I'm going to New Zealand next week and i'm wondering if i should take my 5mm wetsuit with me.
Will this be too warm for NZ at this time of year or will it be the same as surfing Scotland in the Summer?

I'll be keeping a blog on my travels to NZ so keep an eye out.

andy seems to think you guys will be surfing in boardies. you should speak to the gizz he did some body boarding out there. also i think that fella yoos are staying with for the first few days reckons you can surf in boardies. i would say maybe a wee summer suit at most.
